National Day of Prayer, NC Phase 1 Reopening and Care package giveaway update

    Hi Springfield,

Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne,
Makes all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

This is one of my favorite hymns. Though it was written more than 150 years ago, the lyrics still ring true.

    NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
As you know, today is the National Day of Prayer. People across our country and world have paused to petition God. If there were ever a time to pray, the time is now. And there’s so much to pray about – the coronavirus, families in need, the bereaved, injustice and the list goes on and on. Each year we participate in the National Day of Prayer. This year our participation will be different. Please join us this evening at 7pm on Zoom for our prayer conference call. The instructions to join are on our website homepage. If you can’t join via Zoom at 7pm you can call our conference line (775) 799-9067.

    CORONAVIRUS CARE PACKAGE GIVEAWAY
Over the past weekend, we had another successful “Coronavirus Care Package” giveaway. Between Saturday and Monday, we were able to give away about 300 bags filled with non-perishable goods for families. I want to thank everyone involved in that effort. We hope to be able to have another giveaway soon.

    NC PHASE I
This coming Friday, our state will enter Phase I of its reopening plan. This Phase allows for some non-essential businesses to open at reduced capacity. As our state moves toward reopening, I want to remind you to be careful and safe. More and more of our members and their families are being touched by this coronavirus. Please take instructions for self-care seriously. I urge you not to get weary in well-doing. Continue your due diligence by wearing a facial covering, staying six feet apart and washing your hands thoroughly.

Unfortunately, Phase I does not allow us to come together in church. I don’t know when we will be able to do so. But I want you to know whenever we come together – THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT. They will have to be so that we can do our part to keep you safe. I am asking for your prayers and patience as we work to develop best practices for our members and ministries. In my future email blasts, I will be sharing with you some ways things will be different to keep you informed.

I am grateful for the blessing of your partnership in ministry. With God’s help, we will make it through this. As usual, KEEP THE FAITH, STAY SAFE &  WASH YOUR HANDS.
