A Message from the Pastor-April 14, 2022

Easter Weekend, Growing Pains, Join Pastor Sturdivant, Children's Day, Activities Coordinator, Free Covid Testing, Grant Writers

    Hi Springfield,

Today is known on the Christian calendar as Maundy Thursday. This is the Thursday before Good Friday. The word “maundy” is a Latin word that means commandment. Maundy Thursday commemorates the day that Jesus gives His disciples a new commandment. This sentiment is recorded in John 13:34 … “a new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you…” (KJV) Jesus’ indescribable love will be on full display tomorrow as He hung on Calvary’s cross for your sins and mine. This powerful example of love is one that Jesus calls all His disciples to live up to during this season and always. Let’s love one another like Jesus!

     EASTER WEEKEND

We’re counting down the moments to our Resurrection Weekend Celebration. There are many exciting ways that we’re planning to celebrate the most holy season on the Christian calendar. Here’s a quick view of what’s happening at Springfield for Resurrection 2022.

    • 7 Last Sayings from the Cross. Good Friday, April 15th we will observe the 7 Last Sayings from the Cross. This in-person and virtual service will be held at 7pm in the sanctuary. Our associates will share these powerful words from the cross with us. Pray with and for them.
    • He Touched Me. On Saturday, April 16th at 7pm our Drama Ministry will present “He Touched Me.” This powerful drama will tell the story of the cross in a new and exciting way. The drama production will be virtual only. You will be able to see the production on our website, our Facebook page, and our YouTube Channel. Let’s pray that God will use our Drama Ministry in an exciting way.
    • Resurrection Sunday. Sunday, April 17th at 10am we will celebrate Resurrection Sunday with a drive-in worship service. Here are some details to help with our drive-in worship:
      • On Sunday, April 17th Sunday School will be cancelled so that you can prepare to come for the drive-in worship service.
      • The parking lot will open at 9am.
      • As you enter the parking lot, our deacons will be passing out communion elements in preparation of our observance of the Lord’s Supper after the morning message.
      • Please follow the instructions of our traffic and safety team for when and how to enter and exit the parking lot.

    GROWING PAINS: A LEADERSHIP REVIVAL

Our new Tuesday night series “Growing Pains: A Leadership Revival” is underway. I am excited about what the Lord will be sharing with us in this series. The service for April 19th will be in-person and virtual. Come and enjoy God’s word.

    JOIN PASTOR STURDIVANT

Tonight at 7pm Pastor Sturdivant will be preaching at Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church for their Holy Week Revival. This service will be virtual and in-person. To watch the service online go to the Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church website. As I always say, if you can’t go, send your prayers.

    CHILDREN’S DAY

I am excited about our annual Children’s Day. We’ll be celebrating Children’s Day Sunday, April 24th at 10am. Here are a few notes the Children’s Ministry would like me to pass along in preparation for Children’s Day.

    • Children’s Ministry Bible study will be virtual only on April 12th & 26th.
    • Children’s Choir Rehearsal will be Thursday, April 21st @7pm and Saturday, April 23rd at 10am.
