A Message from the Pastor - April 1, 2022

reopening plan 2.0, activities coordinator, grocery giveaway, easter weekend free covid-19 testing site new hours, activities coordinator

    Hi Springfield,

I pray that God is blessing you on this fabulous Friday. As we approach Regather 2.0 these words from Psalm 126 feels appropriate. This is one of the psalms ancient Jewish pilgrims would sing as they make the trek to Jerusalem in preparation to worship.

“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”

After all we’ve been through, we can certainly say as a church, the Lord has done great things – and we’re glad about it!

    REOPENING PLAN 2.0

Here’s a brief look at our re-opening plan for the next few days. All in-person worship opportunities will require TEMPERATURE CHECKS, MASKS, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. This step is to continue to keep you safe.

    • CHURCH CONFERENCE. Friday, April 1st @ 7pm. I pray you will make plans to attend this important meeting.
    • IN-PERSON WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. Beginning Sunday, April 3rd our church will open for Sunday School at 8:30am and worship at 10am. As we regather, our Fellowship Hall will be used as overflow space.
    • BIBLE STUDY CANCELLED. Bible study is cancelled for Tuesday, April 5th. We will begin in-person Bible study on Tuesday, April 12th with our new series Growing Pains: A Leadership Revival. You don’t want to miss it.
    • IN-PERSON PRAYER MEETING. Wednesday, April 6th at 7pm. For those who will not be able to attend in-person, we will still stream prayer meeting virtually on our prayer meeting Zoom link.

    GROCERY GIVEAWAY

Our Missionary Ministry will sponsor our next free grocery giveaway on Saturday, April 2nd. This is another way we are doing our best to be the friendly church in the curve reaching out to the world. More details to follow. I’m grateful for the ways God is using our church to be a blessing to our community.

    EASTER WEEKEND

Resurrection Sunday 2022 is right around the corner. There are many exciting ways that we’re planning to celebrate the most holy day on the Christian calendar. Here’s a quick view of what’s happening at Springfield for Resurrection 2022.

    • 7 Last Sayings from the Cross. Good Friday, April 15th we will observe the 7 Last Sayings from the Cross. This in-person and virtual service will be held at 7pm in the sanctuary. Our associates will share these powerful words from the cross with us. Pray with and for them.
    • He Touched Me. On Saturday, April 16th at 7pm our Drama Ministry will present “He Touched Me.” This powerful drama will tell the story of the cross in a new and exciting way. The drama production will be virtual only. Please prepare to enjoy this event on our website, Facebook and YouTube and pray that God will use our Drama Ministry in an exciting way.
    • Resurrection Sunday. Sunday, April 17th will be a drive-in worship opportunity. More details to come. I can’t wait to see you for our Resurrection Sunday drive-in service.

    ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

Springfield Baptist is hiring. We’re looking for an Activities Coordinator. If you’re interested, please submit your resume and an application to or mail it to the church office 4309 Auburn Knightdale Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.

FREE COVID-19 TESTING SITE NEW HOURS

Our COVID-19 testing site will have new hours. Beginning Monday, April 4th, the free COVID-19 tests will be available from 9am to 4pm. Thank God for our partners at Mako Medical and from the State of NC for helping make this happen. Please help us spread the word in our community about this opportunity.

There are many more exciting things to share in the coming days. Stay tuned. God is up to something! In the meantime, KEEP THE FAITH, STAY SAFE, WEAR, WASH & WAIT!
