Hi Springfield,

Today marks the beginning of the Platinum Jubliee for Queen Elizabeth II. She is being celebrated in England for being queen on the throne for 70 years. Well, Psalm 72 has that type of tone. It’s a psalm that refers to the blessing of the king. Though the psalm was written with an earthly king in mind, it can only perfectly describe the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords – Jesus Christ. Because He is the only King who reigns forever, the psalm says

Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,

Who alone does marvelous deeds.

Praise be to His glorious name forever;

may the whole earth be filled with His glory.

Amen and Amen. 

 Let’s praise the only King that matters!

 

MEN’S WEEKEND – JUNE 3^RD THRU JUNE 5^TH 

Men’s weekend kicks off tomorrow Friday, June 3^rd through Sunday, June 5^th. Here’s a rundown of the exciting events planned for this weekend:

• Friday, June 3^rd – Virtual Meet & Greet with Pastor Sturdivant. To join this virtual event, go to our website and click on the graphic.
• Saturday, June 4^th – 10am Youth basketball skills competition. 11am Men’s basketball game.
• Sunday, June 5^th – Men’s Day Worship celebration featuring Rev. Scottie Torain, Pastor of Miles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Mebane, NC.

You do not want to miss this power-packed event.

NEW BIBLE STUDY SERIES – GOD’S GIFT THROUGH YOU

On this coming Tuesday we’ll begin a new Bible study series called “God’s Gift Through You.” This series is designed to help you find your fit in God’s kingdom by helping you discover your spiritual gift and find places to use your gift for God’s glory. Join us Tuesday at 7pm for this exciting time in God’s word.

 SUNDAY SCHOOL MATERIAL

As was announced on Sunday, because of the shipping issues we will not have new Sunday school books by this coming Sunday. But you can get your Sunday School material by going to our website and clicking the link that says Sunday School lessons for class material to download and print the material at home. The classes are listed. Simply click on your class and material will appear. Seniors, please click on “online documents” to find your class handouts for this Sunday’s class. Thank you for being flexible during this time. Remember different isn’t sin, it’s just different.

SUPER DUPER SATURDAY – MINISTRY FAIR

On Saturday, June 11th all roads lead to Springfield Baptist Church for Super Duper Saturday. What is that you might ask? It’ll be a time for all our members new and old to re-engage with the ministries of our church during this church-wide ministry fair. Ministry set-up starts at 8AM and Super-Duper Saturday starts at 9AM! It’s going to be epic – you do not want to miss this opportunity to find your fit in God’s kingdom.

WALKING TRACK OPENING

After much planning and preparation, I’m pleased to announce the walking track will be available for people to walk on beginning Monday, June 13^th. We are working hard to prepare for those who want to use the space to get their steps in. Please note the following about our walking track opportunities:

• Walking opportunities will be Mondays – Wednesdays from 8am to 11am; Thursdays 9am to 11am.
• All walkers must be masked and temperature checked.
• All walkers must register to walk and will have access to the track for 1 hour.
• Please socially distance as much as possible.
• If you would like to begin to register to walk email with your first & last name, email, cell number.

This is our initial walking plan. Please be patient with us as we work to add more time slots and opportunities in the future.

 HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT

A major health and wellness event is coming to the campus of the Springfield Baptist Church on Saturday, June 18^th. There will be THREE events happening at once: (The first two events are sponsored by the NC Minority Prostate Cancer Awareness Action Team)

1. PROSTATE CANCER EDUCATION & AWARENESS INFORMATION SESSION. This will take place in the Fellowship Hall from 7:30am to 11am.
2. HEALTH FAIR. This event features information on prostate cancer, diabetes, hypertension/stroke, clinical trials, lung cancer, PROMISE, Carolina Complete Health, and organ donation. There will also be a mobile unit available for prostate cancer screening. This will take place from 11am to 1pm in the parking lot. 3. VACCINATION CLINIC. The Springfield Health Care ministry will provide Pfizer, Moderna and a few pediatric Pfizer vaccinations. Shingles, pneumonia and tdap vaccines will also be available (insurance cards are required for these). This will take place in the seal side lobby from 8am to 12:30pm.
