A Message from the Pastor

155th Homecoming, Bro. Jerrick McLendon initial sermon

    Hi Springfield,

This year we celebrate 155 years as the Springfield Baptist Church! What a blessed milestone. Mark 5:19 says, “…go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” (ESV) That’s what Homecoming is all about. It’s about the opportunity to return to the place of our roots to show others about our fruit. Good roots produce good fruit. For 155 years God has allowed the roots of Springfield delve deep into the soil of our community to produce a harvest of souls for the kingdom of God. My prayer is that over the next 155 years God would allow our deep roots to bear more fruit.

    155TH HOMECOMING

Allow me to share some details about Sunday’s big event.

    • Sunday School will be canceled for this coming Sunday, November 7th, 2021.
    • The parking lot will open at 8:30am. Please do not arrive before 8:30am on Sunday so that we can make sure we have everything in place before the service at 10am.
    • Please plan to remain in your cars for the whole service.
    • Please wear your mask. On Sunday, you will be interacting with our Deacons, Traffic & Safety and Kitchen Committee workers. Please be respectful of them by wearing your mask as you encounter them.
    • Cars will be parked by size. Follow the instructions from our Traffic & Safety Team as they show you where to park.
    • To-go plates will be distributed once the service is over as you leave the parking lot. To-go plates will be given based on the number of people in your car.
    • Lastly, I’ll say it again, BRING YOUR PATIENCE. Remember the goal of this Sunday is to give God all the praise. That’s what we intend to do.

INITIAL SERMON – BRO. JERRICK MCLENDON

On Sunday, November 14th at 3pm Bro. Jerrick McLendon will preach his initial sermon. Jerrick has severed for years as one of our new members facilitators/teachers and he and his wife Chastity have led VBS for the past two years. We celebrate God for his elevation. This service will be streamed on our church website. Please make plans to view this historic event in the life of our church. Please keep Bro. McLendon and his family in prayer.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more exciting and impactful events we’re planning. As usual, KEEP THE FAITH, STAY SAFE, WEAR, WASH & WAIT.
