Springfield Baptist Church

The Youth Ministry is to prepare youth ages 13‐18 to become Disciples of Christ, to prepare them to become disciples willing to take a journey. It takes a willingness to sacrifice, walk through some fire and struggles. The Youth Ministry is here to introduce to them what is means to follow Christ.

The Christian faith is built upon community. We have often heard the old proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child" well; it takes a church to build that village. The Youth Ministry is part of that church built upon compassionate relationships that recognize all as beloved of God. The Youth Ministry is here to help the youth learn what it means to live in an open and loving community.  The Youth Ministry is here to offer opportunities for the youth to experiment with what this sort of community might look like; a glimpse of what it means to be loved unconditionally. The Youth Ministry is here to help the youth learn to love others even when it is difficult.

The Youth Ministry is here to help the youth uncover our Spiritual Gifts by helping them to see that we have God‐given gifts that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. These gifts include, among others, leadership, evangelism, prayer, teaching, healing, and hospitality some of which most of our youth are already demonstrating. Being a teenager is tough. The youth struggle with issues of self‐worth, confusion about identity, and worries about fitting in. The Youth Ministry offers mentorship of faithful adults who love them just as they are, walk with them on their spiritual journey, and help them to navigate through those challenges of adolescence.
